EXECUTION is the story of two filmmakers who in 1995 hid cameras in the death chamber and recorded a man’s execution in the electric chair. The Warden confiscated their footage and hid it from the public for ten years before it was finally returned. EXECUTION has been greeted with both controversy and critical acclaim across the United States and abroad. While the film takes no particular position on the death penalty, it is considered one of the most important and thought-provoking films made on the issue.
William (Billy) Moore, who will join the film’s director, Steven Scaffidi, for the post-screening discussion, was on Georgia's death row for sixteen years and at one point only seven hours away from his own execution in the electric chair. He is one of the only men in America ever to be released from death row for a capital murder he was convicted of and had admitted to - and was freed thanks to the efforts of his victim’s family. Cosponsored by the UCLA School of Law Critical Race Studies Program and the American Constitution Society.
This program is free and open to the public. Parking on the UCLA campus is $8.00. "I heard that the film is coming to UCLA in the next few weeks. Looking forward to the event. Heard lots of good things about this film and the stir it's made at Universities around the world. The clips on YouTube are great.
"I saw this film in London at Cambridge. I was blown away. I never dreamed I would care about this issue, but after seeing it, I was moved by the topic. Everyone should see this film. If you're going to sit on a jury in the U.S and decide whether we should be killing people, you should educate yourself on the topic."
i can understand why everyone is talking about this movie...because it's good, damn good too. i personally saw the reactions of the audience and they were blown away because the film is powerful. i don't want to overstate the facts but i was frozen in my seat the entire time. even though i knew the story...seeing it on the big screen was something else. this is one of the best films i've seen. and i'm not alone when i say this. this movie is a hit!
Looking forward to a great screening at UCLA!
Great film. I saw it in London and we had to stand in the back of the room it was so crowded. I was scared to watch the ending but could not take my eyes off the screen. Don't miss this film.
This may be the most important film about the death penalty ever made. It's real and it takes you to the witness box and you can see what actually happens during the final days and seconds of a man's life on death row and his execution. The fact that the filmmakers hid cameras in the death chamber shows you the actual execution process. This film will forever change the way you look at capital punishment. Great stuff!
Loved the film at UCLA and the Q&A following. This film has opened my eyes to the entire death penalty debate. Great great film and entertaining as hell too. It's a real thriller with a solid story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Thanks UCLA!!!
GREAT FILM!!!
I SECOND THAT...GREAT FILM!
The film is now coming to the Seattle, Washington area! Get there early because there's sure to be a big turnout. Everywhere the film has played it's drawn a full house. Don't miss it!!!
This film canshow another side of Death Row. I for one am agenst Capital Punishment one it doesntsolve anything but killing another person for killing that makes the State a murderer as well this film is a big hit and shows what Capitol Punishment's all about
I just saw the film on the campus of CWU near Seattle, Washington. We had around 400 people standing in line for this film and it was worth it. Great movie that will stay with you forever.
This movie is something special. If you get the chance to see it don't miss it. I had my doubts at first but I was hooked during the first 5 minutes and the last 30 minutes are unforgettable.
Real or not this is by far the best film in a long long time as far as independents go. If you have the balls to sit in the witness box of an execution then you have to see this film. Actually you get even closer than that. And don't miss the last 30 minutes of the movie. Intense is the best word I can use to describe it or maybe unforgettable. The images are still with me over a week since seeing the film. How cool is that when most movies today are forgettable by the time you get to the parking lot.
Judging by the preview clips, this looks like a bad Blair Witch type of fake-u-mentary film. Why sell it as real when it's obviously staged?
Staged or not...it's a great film with a lot of drama. Had the entire audience on the edge of their seats!!!
When will this movie come out for the public to purchase?
I would love to see this movie. I live in the UK and have heard about this film from people who saw it at a screening in London. Please tell me how I can purchase this movie.
Cheers.
